That looks like a bloody useful set. I haven't done any sci-fi gaming (apart from X-Wing) in years, but I do have a pile of Copplestone/Grenadier sci-fi figures, which look very much like those.

I’ve had stargrave down as a must-buy for some time now but as a reason to revitalise my old Sci fi figures rather than buy new ones ! Though I may be tempted to trawl eBay for more vintage classics......

I'm gutted I sold my Cadians. They were decently painted too, for me.

I like the alien heads. I'm fully sorted for humans. My only reservation will be the number of beasties needed. I'll see how much I can cover with orcs & genestealers.

Virtual Lard 4 having consummated my desire to actually play Coastal Patrol (as opposed to just flicking through the rules and sighing at the lack of an opponent - thanks, Jeremy!!!), I had a speculative punt on The Wargames Website's Trading Post and netted 2 S-Boats, 2 MTBs, and 4 PT Boats. All 1:300 Cruel Seas, all still on the sprues and all their bits present and correct, these cost me absolutely nothing - not even P&P - courtesy of a very nice chap called Paul in Aberdeen. All fired up, I then got another 6 PT Boats cheap on eBay (despite eBay second-guessing the sender and telling me he was out of stock, so I should pick something else).

So my Coastal Patrol fleet is now 8 S-Boats, 8 MTBs, 2 Fairmile Ds, and 10 PT Boats (5 Elcos, 5 Higgins if anyone's interested). Might sort out some Italians for Med scenarios, but otherwise this will probably be it for 1:300 as I don't think anything bigger works at normal table sizes (the fact that Warlord had to reduce those types to 1:350 should have told them that).

Italians are a laugh - their torpedo boats suffer from the same problem as their fighter aircraft..... exceptionally fast. Superbly engineered, huge fun to be zipping about in looking cool for the ladies..... but to do all of that you do have to sacrifice something which tends to be actual guns....

Since I need to get an army for Age of Hannibal (SAGA) just bought myself a big box of Victrix Carthaginians.

Errr. yet more CoC, a DAK motorcycle combo and a Schneider P16 half track, from Col Bills (Perry and Worlord I believe) then some Italian tankettes, a Marmon Herrington for Malaya and a couple of artillery pieces from Paint & Glue. Oh, and some Jacobite casualties, (Foundry) from the inevitable first volley.
Wargames dreams never die, they just get left in a box.

And armour plating! Quite agree. I'm considering adding a special rule for Italian boats - at a certain point in the game, the crew all stop to wave at bikini-clad women on the beach. Bit odd in the middle of the night, but there you go......
