I never usually bother to look at this nonsense, but I've had a couple of gins and thought 'what the heck....the film doesn't start for five minutes'.

Then I saw Sid's video......

WTF?

Everything went black. The heroes all had very strange dreams - fighting monsters in a jungle, seeing the priestess in the mirror, being attacked by fanged ex-girlfriends. Christina saw a strange pyramid in a large quarry/mine. Each dream ended with the sound of an aeroplane.

Derrick found himself gassed by the head of Caduceus Security, de Luca. When he opened his eyes he was in a dark room, hot and sweaty lying on a bed. Others were in the room. He found window shutters and opened them to reveal a dense jungle and the rest of the heroes asleep. All their equipment missing. At this moment in came a nurse and a doctor, overjoyed to see them awake. They explained how the heroes had crashed their supply plane when coming in to land two weeks ago and since had succumbed to the sleeping sickness that was sweeping the local region. It turns out they are in the Belgian Congo.

Dr Singh was very confused - only ten minutes ago they were in New York. Had he missed a session ? He got very patronising looks from the hospital staff who explained that being confused was a symptom of the sleeping sickness.

The heroes were allowed to explore but were warned not to leave the village as the jungle is swarming with tsetse flies. Dr Singh went off to talk to some local villagers and met up with some explorers, the lovely Professor Roux who knew Hilaire from Paris and is a well known cryptozoologist hunting legends of large lizards. Escorting her was Orville Bulldog Hopkirk. The greatest hunter of the age (isn’t he just wonderful?). Most of the party joined the conversation. It turns out they too are stranded but no one remembers a plane crash. Meanwhile Christina checked over the doctors notes - he's been repeating the same experiments over and over for months.

Everyone decided to confront the doctor with this and marched back into his office, but Hilaire and Singh noticed another nurse, De Vooght looking shifty. They went to speak to her and interrupted her using a listening device that was bugging the doctors office. Hilaire argued with her and noticed her shadow had a tail…… A scuffle ensued in which Hilaire managed to squeeze her fist while she was fumbling in her pocket. Hmmmm. She escaped and jumped out of the window.

Back in the doctors office , Derrick discovered the electronic bug, while Randall got the keys to the gun shed and raced off to get tooled up.

Everyone else chased the nurse who was felled by Hilaire throwing a net (that was lucky). Derrick, Singh and Christina reached the nurse just as Hilaire unhinged his jaw, bared two huge fangs and ripped a hole in her chest. All of them shrugged - they already had Hilaire=Serpent Man ticked in their notebooks about a year ago. The nurse fell to the ground dying and pulled out a small device with a button. It's too late she said, I've already activated the release…..

In the shed Randall found a couple of rifle and heard a click. He looked round to see a huge tube full of thousands of tsetse flies, a red light went on and the lid flipped open as they swarmed toward him…

And there we left the heroic adventurers until next time.

Let's hope someone with lightning-fast reactions and a mind like a steel trap is on hand to save the day.

In the inevitable absence of that, we can always fall back on the old adage 'there is an acceptable level of losses in every campaign'.
We can pick up the rifles when the flies are gone.
