The guy who ‘sculpted’ those figures is friends with a mate of mine. He’s been in the industry for the last thirty odd years and this is what he now does.

I’ve downloaded and printed a lot of the ‘free’ prints. They’re nice but just can’t compare with the bought ones. The above are via Patreon. You subscribe for a nominal rate and you get all the files every month. He then puts them up on his site at a market related price so your saving is huge. That vehicle (and crew) and 6 figures were the September pledge - £4.80 for all the STL’s. They come fully supported. The October one is insane. I’ll be printing for a while.

People who know how to play with CAD can do amazing things. We had a young engineer who could make the CAD app (and most of the other engineering apps) do just about anything, but we didn't have much for her to do (everything was being contracted out). Mind you, we still wouldn't let her near a tool-box without supervision- with anything practical she was a real passion-fingers.

I think the hobby is in for an interesting time, Jeremy, if 3D prints and .stl files are able to produce quality figures and vehicles like those you posted.

3d prints are excellent in many cases, but I am happy to not have to run more kit!

My workbench is currently.... don't laugh, 1 6mm Roman camp wall and corner piece, 1 28mm Witches House and 1 40mm AWI Tavern.....

And 2 of the 3 are commission pieces!

My workbench has... For a change... C18th stuff, both flags and figures. I think I need to paint something totally different soon so I don't burn out and lose the will...

The main issue for me with the resin printers is that they are very much marketed as being suitable for general hobby use in a way that spin casting with metal never was.
Unfortunately they have a much greater capacity for causing harm via toxic fumes and UV resin accidents than spin casting machine ever could.
My old COSHH safety self worries about the damage some idiots (not Jeremy) might end up doing to themselves and others with these machines!
