Interesting. I picked up their Aussies. Did you have a set of rules in mind?

Yes Tim H has the Aussies all painted beautifully. I'm currently trying to get the right greens, some garish examples online of some very bright green marines! I'm thinking medium olive base, wash with sepia, then dry brush golden olive and a bit of buff to dust.

Rules wise, either our own for Khumbahyah or I might pick up the BOHICA rules from Empress at Vappa for a look. This won't be a huge project so wouldn't want more than a platoon. I looked at the Lardy offering but it was multiple platoons. There are lots of options out there and some free downloads I've seen.

I did a sample figure for the Aussies just using a base of olive drab. The Jungle Greens came in all shades, from the pretty intense hues for the 'Nashos' - and then the old sweats would be in heavily stained and faded outfits.

Like you, I don't want this to be a huge project. I picked up 'Charlie Don't Surf' from the Lardies, and again like you, was put off by the scale (company). I've heard some good things about BOHICA, but in the meantime, (well, after much more painting) I thought I would try out the Chain of Command modifications 'DMZ' by Jason Sendjirjan. available in dropbox here: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/yu90w0q8dp33 ... b-BHa?dl=0

There is also "Danger Close" available from Empress.
I've got some NVA that I was going to paint as regular Africans to provide support for the insurgents against the Rhodeleland forces.

Whiskey, Vallejo US Dark Green 70.893 gives quite a good green for Nam fatigues. The hard part with the Yanks is getting the leaf pattern helmet covers right.

New greens: Used greens: Old, comfortable greens: Not from VN- I was luckily too young for that- but from '75 to '82 we were still wearing the same kit- greens, GP's, webbing and packs- worn by 1ATF post-1968.

Used greens got a lot paler than that in VN. I had a load of mates who served and seen the holiday snaps.

Direct sunlight. Yep, so they look almost a very pale yellow brown. But by that stage, seams are going, holes etc.

Saw a good video where the guy discusses the variance in all the kit/webbing colours too. Seems anything goes really.
