Well, the OOP stuff does command a premium, but I do think a lot of OOP stuff is OOP for a good reason, and maybe just buy some better quality modern casts?

No I get it. Really frustrating when you rebase, or a different set of rules needs 30 figure battalions, not 24. Ouch.

Oh, I quite agree - just as there is a reason that many animals become extinct. However, the 2nd Gen Minifigs are superb figures and worth the money, IMO. To be honest, I tart up some of the figures, or strip and repaint, depending on how "excellent" the paint job is, but given how hard it is to find many of the figure types I just bought (and there's no postage on them), they work out ok. Frankly, the current Minifigs range is a bit of a curate's egg - very imaginative command/artillery packs, not bad cavalry, but mostly awful pikemen (rear rank/unarmoured landsknechts at "charge your pike", but front rank/armoured types at order pike - and don't get me strarted on the ECW pikemen running around waving already fragile spaghetti pikes in the air) and horses that are better than the 3rd Gen Napoleonic types (think dog and pony hybrids), but not by much.

Incidentally, I met the sculptor of the 2nd Gen Renaissance and ECW/TYW figures (Tom Lobley, now in his 80s and still sculpting for Early War Miniatures) at Partizan earlier this month and he agreed to sculpt a few more figures that are missing from the ranges - early Henry VIII types in the smock issued to all his army in France in 1513, and some montero and woolly hat (beanie) clad types for the ECW.

In terms of consistency, Hinds is a complete shit show. Descriptions of the painting standard of any particular unit appears to have been drawn at random from a hat, and the pricing is "generous" in many cases (but ok-ish in others). Quite a lot of units appear to have been cobbled together from a bits box, when a few minutes spent sorting out different manufacturers and grouping their products together more thoughtfully would actually produce more attractive units. It is what it is.

On some of my eBay searches I specifically filter out anything by Hinds. I'm sure at some point I might find a bargain but it's not worth the added scrolling...

Perhaps Hinds should be reading this.. if their product issues are causing people to filter out searches then it should be a major concern for them.
