Ayton 3rd-5th May, 2024
Re: Ayton 2024
I've also played Blood Bilge and Iron Balls a fair few times. I like them. One of the few sets where a player can actually handle a small squadron rather than just a single ship without frying your brains. We've used them for some big battles - Aboukir Bay and Trafalgar - with a result in a day's gaming and can usually manage a dozen ships per side in an evening's game.
Why us? Cos we're 'ere lad, nobody else.

Someone has hacked Andy's account and completely given themselves away by using the F word. Amateurs.

Re: Ayton 2024
Am I right in saying the Warlord Black Seas ships are 1/700? Guessing these are too big or were these some of the ships you were thinking Dave??World2dave wrote: ↑Thu Apr 06, 2023 11:14 pm If we're doing a variety of games over the weekend, I'd add my vote to a 28mm c17th game at some point.
Also, one we've talked about previously, and again recently actually, is 1/1200 age of sail. A few of us have ships ready and/or planned. Definitely something I'd be up for if there's interest.

Re: Ayton 2024
A bunch of guys down in the South West played Trafalgar using the Black Seas ships, so given the amount of space we have (potentially, at least), I don't see why 1/700 should be too big. It's not Jutland, after all.

Mind you, if we did do Jutland, there's always the cricket ground right outside.......

Re: Ayton 2024
The idea was to use 1/1200 ships (Langton, Navwar, etc) as some people have collections already.
Nothing stopping others from going with the 1/700 ships as a separate thing.

Has anyone got or tried Osprey's Fighting Sail rules?
