I should have said, my army will be Lamming and Minifigs stuff.
I need to find some cheap toy elephants about two inches high at the eye.

So they seem small as they scurry off?

I'd do 20mm squares for the close order foot. Mainly because I always think of 20mm round as too small for 28mm. I usually base WAB cavalry individually anyway.

I have an assortment of 'old', probably 25mm, elephants with howdahs, etc. I suspect they're either hinchliffe or minifigs bought in the 80s. Are they any good to you? I have 3 or 4

Well that's the Mongol idea kicked into the long grass. I needed to get a few more to bring what I've got up to a WAB army size but Steve Barber sold the range to an American start up company who have disappeared. Wish i'd have known as i'd have grabbed the range off him if I knew it was for sale
Back to the drawing board.
