DO IT.
They’re rubbish, but you get loads of them.
Your mandatory units alone are 10 elements... which comes to all of 5 points.
Even on a basic 12 point army, that gives you loads to pick and choose from.
And if you think Cossacks are good for annoying opponents, wait til you’ve tried Djelis.
All the annoyance factor of Cossacks, but if your opponent ever manages to catch them, watch his face when he finds out they’re proper Elites.
Norm, don't forget to mention how good they are at Fortifications. BTW, I have never seen your DBN Ottomans ? They must see combat maybe against my or Peelers Russians?

Are Djelis those amazing deserts made of rose water, gelatine and coconut milk?

Yes. Sweet, chilled pudding treats which operate in a skirmishing light cavalry role.
Alex, my Ottos have AB janissaries, Mamelukes & Balkan LI, and Black Hat cavalry. My LEM were underwhelming Peter Pigs, but I’ve never been happy with the size discrepancy, so I’m in the process of replacing them.
There’s some Dixon’s Indian mutiny figures scattered in there as well - I happened to have them when I started the project.
I’ve also got a bunch of One Tree Infantry from Vexillia to expand the project for club 7YW, but that’s way on the back burner.

You may glimpse them in the distance running away at some point.
They’re deep in the middle of THE SORTENING but I’ll see if I can dig some out for pics tomorrow.

Check at the bottom of the stairs.
Ottomans are good fun to play in my limited experience. A few elite units and a lot of really rubbish infantry and light cavalry, who often die like flies or flee at the first shot but who occasionally perform against type amidst much mirth and discomfiture for the enemy generals.

So lets get this straight, who's side were the Ottomans on ? Cavaliers or Roundheads ?

Captain Fantom reputedly fought both for and against the Turks. He also fought on both sides in the ECW. So, both.

In the end, these blue bloods flock together; they'd have been cavaliers until Ataturk. Ottamans are still just pouffes.
