15mm. Rather excellent painting and impressive numbers.

Can I ask you about your French artillery carriages? I noticed you have both red & blue ones - me, too.
My reason is that I couldn't nail down which was correct, so I hedged my bets. Have you found out something more concrete such as a date they moved from one colour to the other?

G'day, Donald.

To quote the article by Digby Smith on Kronoskaf: "The change to blue occurred very soon after the Vallière reform of 1732". The reason the siege gun is red is the same as why two Hannover guns are British grey- I'll get around to re-painting them "soon". The figures aren't all that well painted, but they're still impressive on the table. Now to get the Brit-Han contingent, and some of the other new units, blooded.

Cheers and thanks for the kind words, mate.

Dal's site is excellent! I ballsed up my artillery carriages - first by believing Osprey when they showed French red carriages and then by painting my Bavarian carriages light blue (I've since read that they were still red during the SYW)!

The error was compounded by the fact that for the first time in my life I glue the guns onto the bases instead of leaving them loose, otherwise I could have just swapped them over with no drama!

Thanks, your Countness. The biggest problem is working out how to get it all on a table at one time.

Mark, carriages (and limbers/wagons) are almost worse than flags when it comes to reliable information. Christian Rogge's blog has a lot of information, including original documents. Kronoskaf's information is constantly under review as sources turn up in various museums. As for your Bavarian artillery- there's some sources that state that the change was ordered in/around 1760. A small-calibre gun at the BAM in Ingolstadt, dating from the period, was red, but there was no plaque or information near it, just "Siebenjähriger Krieg" on a small plaque on the trail. Based on that the colour of your guns could be either- depending on the year and when the RQMS was finally able to get in the right paint.

Despite the warm weather here it is possible to keep the vallejo from going too lumpy provided one stirs enough and adds enough water!
This year I've managed to get a slot in the Analogue Hobbies Painting Challenge and to date have managed two posts
The plan is to produce 12 units all with a connection to the letter P
