Well the sample SKOTs arrived from Butler's Printed Models and I have to say that they are bloody brilliant! Excellent detail and none of the 'stepping' I've seen in previous photos. This is exactly how they came out of the parcel - one appears to have been cleaned up, while the other two have all the supporting 'structure' still in place from the 3d-printing process, which having never seen a 3D-printed model 'in the flesh' before, I find absolutely fascinating. I was particularly fascinated by those 'boards' concealing the wheels.
These are highly recommended and I've just ordered another ten SKOTs:

I should add that those SKOTs are only £4 each.

I have never painted them but I am advised that a good filling primer is needed.

Yes, that's what I was led to believe, but now I'm not so sure. The striations on the sloped surfaces caused by the layering of the 3D print are very subtle indeed compared to earlier printed models I've seen, which looked awful - like sodding stepped pyramids. I think the thickness of the undercoat and then the base colour will totally smooth it over before I do any dry-brushing which might pick it out.
We'll find out in a couple of weeks when I paint them... (Sorry for the wait, but I'm off work for two weeks).

No time to paint them then. Are all the trains backed up for a fortnight?

Presumably they "cleaned" one so you'd know which bits were superfluous and which were genuine parts of the kit?
Not my period, but actually rather good.

You need to move further south!
We have been considering a campervan for cheap and cheerful trips south!

Yeah, that was my guess.

The trains are running just fine at the moment. No delays caused by tartan, superglued fingers or particularly tricky hussar lace.
