W-i-P SYW hussars

I've been working on adding a couple of husars to my Prussian & Austrian SYW armies.
One difficulty I've had was the size of the busby. Illustrations show a range of sizes.
I've used the Italeri figures & Revell SYW hussar horses.
Here, I've used a bearskin from the HaT Napoleonic Horse Grenadiers, with the bag made of paper & a pig-tail from a plastic rod. This figure will end up being a Kalnoky hussar:
Here, you can see two already finished in the smaller busbys - a Prussian Wartenburg hussar and an Austrian Baranjay hussar.

Stunning, if I had access to all this plastic goodness in my teens, I'd have failed everything at High School.

I'm evidently of the large busby school.
You're a clever sort, Master Donald.

I think in the early days (ie NYW/WSS era) the busby was smaller and possibly wider. By the time of the WAS/SYW, it had got closer to Napoleonic proportions. Some of the late-1700s/early 1800s depictions of Russian troops, used as the basis for the colour plates in the original Osprey MAA on the Napoleonic Russian Army (the one-volume Albert Seaton version) suggest tall, slim busbies for hussars.

Excellent stuff! This level of scholarship is reminiscent of the old TMP (without the bigotry, violence, misogyny, racism & sheer, tinfoil hat lunacy).
Thanks.

He? Me?
Leave? Leave what?
You are an enigmatic man (I think that's the correct spelling....)
