Gloss Varnish.

I apologise for starting a varnish thread. I've been varnishing plastic 1/72s, using the old Humbrol gloss varnish. It's nice & thick, does the job, but sadly turns the valejo uniform green bases into quite a deep dark green. Which is ok for them, but not what I want on my Spencer Smiths, which I want to get going with.
So, having bored you with that, could you recommend a nice tin of varnish, which covers nicely & shiney and doesn't turn a mid green base into a dark green base. I'm thinking big tins. Oh, and Gloss. Not matt. Or Satin. Or spray cans. Thanks.

Light green paint? It'll turn midgreen when glossed.
This is actually what I do. I use german camo bright green (vallejo) on all my bases.

Don't gloss the bases.

I suspect acrylic varnish will have less of a colour change effect than a humbrol poly one. You could try one of the smaller vallejo ones first and if that works go big ?
Or as Tim suggests a lighter green. I use GW war boss green for my shiny bases,

On the other hand, you could paint them a totally different colour like Pink or yellow and then when you varnish them they won't look dark green
