Losing your package.

So I had my two boys & sister in law each order me some figures from that nice Mr Johnson at Spencer Smiths, for a Merry Christmas present. I only received two orders though, and after waiting until this week, I emailed Mr J & politely enquired.
To keep it short, it transpired that eldest boy had his order delivered to his own house in Portsmouth, instead of direct to me. His Christmas visit to ours got cancelled due to Tier4 coming in, didn't tell me he had it, I didn't think to ask, hence my unnecessarily bothering Mr J.
Well anyway, the morale of the tale is to look into things properly & politely, before shouting & complaining, because I also asked my Postmanlady about my missing package. She denied all knowledge and accused me of calling her a thief, and I can tell from the way she's been looking at me lately that she's not at all happy with me.
Still, now that's it's been resolved and I now know that she hasn't nicked it, I suppose I'd better apologise, untie her, & let her out of my basement.

The other thing is post is very slow due to a lot of posties having to isolate when little jonny postie home from postie school and says that kid in his class has the plague so we all get two weeks off. The York office is better now but they were at 50% staff recently. Then there's all the other problems at the sellers end. Like you say, patience is the best policy.

I have an excellent relationship with my posties.
The main man called this week with a couple of packages, making a point of apologising for the nearly five week delay in parcel deliveries. The next day, he called again and showed me a photograph the sorting office's huge backlog. It is a nightmare.
I'm sure Royal Mail is doing its best, but by all accounts the problems are being multiplied by some pretty inept management.

Our local Post Office had to shut completely due to one of them testing positive. They then got managers from other areas to come in and do the deliveries which in some ways was worse than having no deliveries at all.
I ply our postie with Scotch at Christmas, largely so that I can enquire about missing/late parcels without getting an earful!

There is a scam email going around at the moment that claims to be from Royal Mail saying that your parcel couldn’t be delivered and asking you to click on a link to arrange re-delivery. It is quite convincing (unlike some of these scams) and as I was expecting a parcel and had been out the morning before the email arrived I was thinking it might be genuine.
But I don’t click on ‘those’ links so I went on the genuine Royal Mail site and went through their re-delivery process. Got a nice telephone call from a postie explaining that they didn’t have a parcel for me, it was a scam and they were “being inundated” with re-delivery requests arising from it.

Touch wood, we’ve had no delay. I’m still getting parcels within a day or two of being posted.

I'm beginning to come to the conclusion that (a) never having tried to use my testicles to catch a falling scalpel, or accidentally drunk several pints of turps in mistake for my usual large "painting" G&T, and (b) never having had a package of wargames stuff go missing, is the reason that my dice rolls are always shite.
I suppose, on balance, it is much better that way round.
Incidentally, my regular gaming partner is currently having all sorts of trouble with Serious Play Scenics which sound like they are nothing to do with Royal Mail, Coronavirus, Brexit, or Boris Johnson & Co, and everything to do with the company's own brand of incompetence.
Mr Peeler - if you're free, I think we shall deploy the steel-cored truncheon for this one.....

That's the way to do. Always treat Postie well. Smile and wave at Postie, because Postie brings parcels of joy.

Nah, its due to all the millions of things we've ordered from Amazon.

We're nearly the last house on his route too, so he often stops for a rollup and a chat.
