The All-sorts

Post by ochoin »

Our big Australia Day game is Monday. I've been marshalling my contribution: about 1000 FoG points of Celts who will have to face off against a rather formidable Polybian Roman force.

They're a colourful bunch. One of my pals refers to them as 'The Licorice all-sorts'.

The elite- Gaestati - tattoos and all-armoured infantry & cavalry & slingers:

I don't expect to win. I've never yet beaten the Romans. But it should be fun. I'll post some game photos later.

Very nice, puts me in mind of the pictures of Sue's Ancient Britons in the Purple Primer (albeit better painted and photographed.. :) )

My pals are providing the opposing army but I was told my Roman marching fort was needed. I've garrisoned it with some of my Newline Polybians for "eye-candy" purposes.

It looks like a lightweight version of the keeps the Peruvian army used to build against the shining path, sans wire, minefields, entrenchments, pill boxes and the reinforced concrete bunker. Lovelyt looking celts.

Ooh, that's nice. Lovely looking fort. But marching forts wouldn't have permanent barracks blocks.

Incidentally, Europe's largest marching fort is in Scotland.

Great fort. I've always wanted one but never got round to it.
