This evening a gentleman in the pub asked me the questing in the heading. I wonder how you all would have answered?

We all know that Belgium is a made up place, so the French and the Germans have neutral ground on which to play...

Reminds me of a pub quiz where the question was to name the battle where tanks were first used in action... "The Battle of Flers" sez I...
'Wrong' of course, because the answer was 'The Somme'...

Modern-day Belgium, but contemporaneously it would have been part of the United Kingdom of the Netherlands (from March 1815).

A few years ago a friend of my son when he saw me playing black powder asked why the French had been in London for the battle of Waterloo.

I was going to say Flanders, but I see the UK of the Netherlands was established by treaty of Vienna 9 days before Waterloo.
That’s a sneaky question
Edit: also a dangerous one, I googled Flanders, then saw a reference to the Boerenkrijg (Peasants' War) of 1798, looked that up, thought ‘Trent Miniatures!’ and went looking at them and remembered I’ve got some and thought, I’ll dig them out and have a look at Sharp Practice and.........
then remembered I’ve got too much to do already

But think of all the other uses to which you could put those figures. And it's Sharp Practice, you only need a few figures.
