OK, so I've managed to 'Follow' SSM, but shouldn't there be a list on my account of what I'm following? I have to search for SSM every time I open FB.

Facebooks shit for that sort of thing. If you go to the SSM page and fiddle with your follow settings (the three dots , top right) then you can get it to notify you when there are new posts
