For Caucasian skin.

Citadel, Vallejo or Army Painter?

I have started my Pyrrhic Greek army & as you can imagine, lots of exposed skin on those ancient nudists, the Greeks.

I've always felt that the GW wash is too red so I tend to use their sepia wash instead, especially for Southern Europeans.

My preferred method for flesh at the moment though is build up all the shadow, base etc.. to a much paler highlight, than I would have used to, and then add "tone" by using a glaze rather than a wash over the top. Although that's a bit labour intensive for a big army :)

I prefer Vallejo, probably quite suited to half-naked Greeks.

I prefer GW.

I do what Paul does - paint the layers (up to Vallejo light flesh), and then apply a thin wash over the top last of all.
I found that the pigment in the Vallejo wash, while fine for the flesh itself, showed up even over the black-line shade between the flesh and the next part of the figure. The GW wash just disappears.

For swarthier types, I use Vallejo Cork Brown with a brown wash.

I still have two pots of GW Flesh Wash. I used it on my Republican Romans and previously on my AZW Brits, about 50:50 wash and water.
