Home from Ayton
Frozen, had to walk the last 3/4 of a mile on treacherous icy, covered with fresh snow roads and pavements.
Thank you all for a great weekend.

Re: Home from Ayton
First Ayton (evah!), but definitely won't be the last - although I can boast I have been to every Ayton where it snowed!
Thanks to everyone for excellent company and loads to eat and drink, but particular kudos to
- Essex Boy (Friday ACW game - first one since my Airfix days at school),
- The Two Tims Hotel and Whisk(e)y (Saturday Kumbayah game*), and
- numerous folk, but predominantly Goat, Major, Buff Orpington and Peeler (Sunday Shinies game).
(*And a special shout out to Norm for keeping his side of the bargain and (a) not shooting me, and (b) actually allowing me to escape with slightly more gold than he was expecting - sorry, I did use the VW Microbus in the end!)
Apologies for being a touch "lightweight" on Saturday night, but six weeks that included several bouts of sciatica and an eye op left me feeling slightly below par and not quite cooking with gas - unlike Peeler who appeared to be doing everything with gas over the past few days.

Good to be there for my first time too. Do you think they were going easy on us to tempt us back?

Re: Home from Ayton
There was talk in the bar on Sunday night of the tradition (apparently long-established) that each successive Ayton is entirely financed by those for whom the previous Ayton was their first.
Must admit, I'd never heard that one before.....

Safely home, the next mission is a Spencer Smiff shopping list to bring the forces of La Cors up to a full brigade and try converting people at the club.
Re: Home from Ayton
I walked all the way home, in the dark, the wind was howling, the air was frozen, the ground covered in ice, snow & dog do.
But I survived.
