I'm in agreement as well -- that last unit is particularly good, even by your consistently high standards of quality.

They are really good - but just think. Had you actually used a Kanban you might have been able to achieve immortality :?

With those long tunics, you can't see the kanbans.

Rather more spiffing than the ones you've got up for sale (and those ones ain't bad); nice muted colour selection - what paints do you use?

I agree. I think it shows progress of sorts. One key shift is from always using black lining, especially inside blocks of colour, to using a darker base colour which makes the colours blend a bit more.

Something I've also started to do in the last few years. See below & https://blog.vexillia.me.uk/2019/10/pai ... any-2.html for more.

  • The flesh is Miniatures Paints (tanned & pale) on a base of Plaka Red Brown.
  • The dark brown, black, greys, cream & taupe base colours are craft paints.
  • The silver is a craft paint neat or mixed with different amounts of black to give many shades.
  • The gold/bronze is Vallejo Game Colour.
  • The rest are Vallejo Model Colour.
Two other tips:
  • Lots of the highlights are Vallejo plus Miniature Paints Pale Flesh or craft paint Cream.
  • Many colours are matted with talc (tiny amounts in the palette) to aid the final coat of varnish.
