The Loose Association of Wargamers

I expect that 95% of Napoleonic gamers here will have their own Napoleon figure, but here's mine. As far as I know, he's a unique* figure by Tony Barton, the supreme being behind Battle Honours and AB Figures.

He was originally modelled as a master Mk 2 Napoleon figure for Battle Honours, but was rejected. For some reason he never then made it into the AB Figures range and Tony sculpted a whole new (though very similar) Napoleon figure for AB Figures.

I'd be very interested to know if anyone else has the same figure.

* When I say 'unique', Tony will normally create his own drop-cast mould from the original sculpture and then cast off a dozen or so master figures for the mould-maker to make the production mould, so there were probably around a dozen of these Napoleons made.

I believe I have this very one. Purchased in 1991 I believe. I’ll have a look this evening.

Excellent, that's interesting. I know the official AB Napoleon didn't come out until about 97, because I was already working on their trade-stand when it did.

I don't know. He looks a little short........

A dazzling array. The French can be guaranteed to have style. I've always been fascinated in the Little Fellow's insight in appearing quite plain amidst so much splendour. If alive today, he'd be an important member of an advertising or marketing firm.

I think I have at least 3 Napoleons but not one of those I'm afraid!

It does look remarkably similar if it isn't. Same guy riding the horse and everything!!

Yeah, I had the Battle Honours Napoleon, the Chariot Miniatures Napoleon, this fella and I also painted the AB Napoleon for a chess-set. I've still got an unpainted AB Napoleon in reserve, along with a heap of unpainted Bluchers, thanks to there being one in every flippin' bag of Prussian generals.

One more tiny difference I've noticed is that mine has the coat pulled back to reveal the hilt of his sword. The AB Napoleon has the coat concealing the sword hilt.

Wonderfully painted figures, thanks for sharing and tempting me to do Napoleonic's.
