SYW Reichsarmee Cavalry

I've finally (25 years after painting the first regiment) finished painting the rest of my Reichsarmee cavalry, to add to my ever-growing collection of bloody awful units of the Seven Years War...

So when they finally get onto the table, it's simply going to be a question of which side runs away first - a bit like Neapolitans v Spanish in Napoleonics.

They actually look pretty good - best not spoil those nice uniforms by getting involved in anything combat-ty!

Exactly! They suit my playing style, to be fair...

And mine - I always feel cheated on the rare occasion I throw good dice, or - heaven forfend - actually win a game!

I think many of us began in the hobby turning out Guards units. I know I did.
But gaming is immensely better for having at least some dodgy units in a given army.
Will they or won't they? This gives a commander pause for thought & they always make a good target for the opposition.

My somewhat "supermen" SYW Prussians get all sort of benefits with the TRICORNE rules. But Fred.'s army is also saddled with Garrison units (militia) & a brigade of grumpy Saxons, dragooned into the Prussian army as Fusiliers. This evens them up with the French who are mostly appalling but like Mark's excellent cavalry (above) quite stylish.

I should add that when these Reichsarmee cavalrymen eventually see off some crack unit (& the LAW of averages insures they will), Mark's joy will be palpable.

Thanks fellas! Yes indeed, this renaissance in my interest for the period (and shit armies) was prompted by a refight of Medellin 1809, where my Spaniards utterly trounced Monsieur le Crapaud, thanks to a blizzard of ultra-spawny dice-rolling. I'm still gloating about it nearly 18 months later.

It's always fun when the rubbish units pull off a win, especially against more highly related opposition.

Nice work as always!
