One Hour Wargames WWII

Herself is at a spa on an overnight, christmas present from me. It was worth every penny for the silent bliss of this evening. Got my toys out after just finishing some Gerries today. Which, incidentally, will be my first kanban entry for 2022! Its been a rough start.
Cobbled together a Soviet force, only just had enough figures to make it work. The rules generally suggest only 1-2 tanks per side but I wanted a more tank heavy game and the lack of painted Soviets required using more of the many tanks I have. The anti-tank rifle was fielded as an anti-tank gun in the rules. I had a shock unit of smg armed Soviets that had rules made up accordingly. The German figures are old Foundry 20mm I had from years ago. My plan was to dig out and finally paint some WWII that could be used for various games based on 40x40mm squares. I have Americans from Foundry to do next. Have a load of German tanks in Rapid Fire units so they were in plentful supply both early and late.
Game lasted less than an hour in fact. Soviets pincer moved in on the German centre as they tried to get across the river mostly via the ford, one whole German infantry company got stuck behind the tank on the bridge the whole game. I added some command rules to give advantage to units within 8" of the command stands. I didnt allow HQ to move once in play and they acted as objectives, the Soviets finally capturing the German command. There was a nice duel between infantry companies in oppoising woods, the Soviets narrowly avoiding destruction in the last turn.
