Here we are then, a thread for next year's Ayton. The following Monday, 1st May, is of course, a Bank Holiday.

I think (IIRC!) we decided that the main game was to be mid 19th Century colonial in 28mmish, with various variations as allowed.

I can't for the life of me remember who was volunteered to organize it. If it was you, post up. If you know who it was, grass them up. 🙂

I think Tim H and Gary are trying to sweep up after the mess Andy caused.

Having thought about it for at least several minutes I am now jolly keen to join in the Colonial bash on the Sunday.

This is so I can do a Lion/Trojan Rampant game or games on the Saturday.
After keeping Ken waiting for more than five years I think I may be edging towards a Trojan Rampant game and would welcome anyone else on board who might be interested.

I'm sure I mentioned Trojan rampant (or rather ancients) one night? Well, that's Saturday sorted for me, Paul and anybody else interested.

I shall paint some native (Arab type)forces up for Sunday's Colonial game.

Trojan rampant sounds good, and I offered a Gloranthan skirmish game to any interested.

Gary Phillips and I are the unfortunates who will be organising next years event. (A separate thread will be started up in the near future to progress this undertaking). The consensus was for a Colonial style adventure to be set in a fictional country on the Dark Continent, to last the two days. The general form would entail a mixed bag of "allies" making an expedition following a great river, with the prospect of various scenarios and missions along the way. We are not looking at a conventional long table on it's own, but a long table with adjoining tables which will be the sites of these various missions and adventures. The idea at present is that the interaction between the players will determine how the event concludes, but not necessarily leading to a big battle on the final day, Of course "interaction" is merely a euphemism for all the skullduggery, mischief and intrigue I know you guys are capable of. Rather than have an AI enemy or enemies some of you will be leading factions of the inhabitants of this contested region. Your forces can be military, or adventures/explorers or whatever. There will NOT be any weirdness like electric cannons, airships or tunnelling monster machines, let me get that in from the start.

The timeline for your forces/party will be 1860-1880, weapons wise think good quality rifled muskets to Martini Henry breechloaders. Gatling, Nordenfeldt, or Gardner guns will be acceptable, but might not be that effective. Gary and I have much to iron out in terms of rules etc, so more on that later. Gary will be in charge of co-ordinating troops and I will be doing something similar for terrain. Many of you already have suitable troops that will be ideal for this, and no doubt people will want to create forces for this, I hope so anyway.

All players are welcome to join us for the two days, or, if you want to do something different on one of the days and join us for one day only that is fine.

I hope this answers some of your questions, and I shall get the dedicated thread up and running as soon as possible.

That all sounds great and very much like something i've always wanted to do ie have a big table with scenario "areas".

Looking forward to using the I of A Expeditionary Force on the Sunday :moredrink:
