I was very tempted when I saw it on Kickstarter, but my old Avalon Hill copy is still useable. They've put a lot of work into it, Willz, and even made the map easy to interpret.
If "The System" is the answer, who asked such a bloody stupid question?

When it came out in the 70s(?), I recall it being used as the basis for figure campaigns.

Perhaps something to consider for a future Ayton.....?

Yes - there's also a similar style of game for the ECW - Ironsides, which I've got for just that purpose, if I ever get around to it. Reviews are errr 'mixed'.

Having spoken to people who tried, it’s not the best apparently.

I had thought much the same. It was always a good game but the "unit" cards especially leant themselves to campaign army building etc...

Mine arrived today, excellent production quality.
Very impressed with the game and it allows you to play the classic version.
Worth £48 including postage.
I will post some photos later.
