Hail Caesar

My 18 month - 2 year long effort to vitalise & streamline my wargaming has certainly born fruit. There have been some tears on the way but the changes have been positive.
A couple of additional congenial members for our group have been recruited. The selling of unwanted figures has slowed down but is continuing. The purchase of some needed figures & units, their painting & basing, is happening. The discarding of moribund rule sets & the replacement with more congenial rules has progressed - Rapid Fire for Blitzkrieg Commander, Valour & Fortitude for General d'Armee & Victory without Quarter for Field of Glory:R.
I have started to look at what we can use in place of Field of Glory: Ancients. The replacement must fit our FoG basing & unit size, be fast play & be enjoyable to game. We game the Bronze Age, Punic Wars & the Late Roman period.
I've read forum posts, online reviews & watched Youtube battle reports. Hail Caesar is starting to look like what's needed. The hardcover itself is horrendously expensive & I would want to be further convinced before I shell out the Readies.
I would be glad of any further comment from the cognoscenti here on these rules.
