DRAGON RAMPANT (Ayton 2024)
When the Age of the Gods came to a violent end in a cosmic cataclysm which sundered the very fabric of reality and gave birth to the mortal world, the legendary city of Loosassania vanished forever from space and time as we understand them.
Within its cyclopean halls, so the mystics say, the Elder Gods shaped the fate of the world to their own unknowable ends, whole races rising to high civilization and falling to extinction under their unseen hands.
On nights when the constellations align, Loosassania can still be seen - a phantom city upon the astral plane, vanishing with the dawn.
Only an Ascended Avatar of Law, or of Chaos, may part the barriers of space and time which separate our realities and step through... to walk the long-deserted halls of Loosassania as the gods themselves once did and wield the eldritch powers they once commanded.
Soon, the prophecies tell us, the stars will be right and the spectral city will again appear in mist and shadow.
Aspiring champions from the tribes and kingdoms of the world will gather, leading warbands of their chosen warriors to the ancient portals of law and chaos to do battle.
Only the victors may pass through the portals to become Ascended Avatars of Law, or of Chaos.
And when Loosassania appears in all its ghostly splendour, the Ascended Avatars will lead their forces through the veil of reality into that haunted and alien metropolis.
While the mortal world crumbles and burns behind them and a new one is reborn from its ashes, the Avatars of Law and Chaos will do battle to decide whether the next age of history will be one of Light... or of Darkness.
The Conquest of Loosassania will comprise of three battles:
One among the 'good' or 'lawful' warbands. The winning player’s commander will become the Ascended Avatar of Law.
One among the 'evil' or 'chaotic' warbands. The winning player’s commander will become the Ascended Avatar of Chaos.
The final epic struggle will take place in the ruins of Loosassania, and decides the fate of the mortal world.
We will be using ‘Dragon Rampant’ rules. Each player’s force should be 30 points.
The first and second battles will take place on Saturday.
The third and final battle may also run on Saturday (if there are only a few players and the first battles are resolved quickly) but may run on Sunday if the interest is there.
Players are free to play in any or all of the battles.
Players are free to field forces in both the ‘Good’ or ‘Lawful’ faction and the ‘Evil’ or ‘Chaotic’ side if they wish.
(Such bet-hedgers will have to pick a side for the third battle!)
The sides will be balanced up for the epic finale.
Plenty of forces will be available for loan if you fancy a game but don’t have troops.
Gentlemen, you are invited to Declare Your Interest.

There's a dark cloud rising in the east, preceded by an ill wind bearing the scent of decay and corruption.

Kein Plan überlebt den ersten Kontakt mit den Würfeln. (No plan survives the first contact with the dice.)

In answer to questions re. Activation:
In keeping with the House Rules published by Harrogate Wargames Club:
* All commanders get the "commanding" trait automatically. This allows one failed activation roll per round to be re-rolled, plus one re-roll attempt for the Commander's own unit.
