Thank you again gents. I wont bother with metal spears, too much faff. I didnt think I'd have any problems as the plastic seems quite springy just like the Warlord Spanish succession plastic. I never lost a musket or bayonet with them.

Now if only I can find a tutorial for painting chainmail.

Silver, with a black wash is the quickest way. Use as many coats of wash as you need to get the darkness you want...(drying the coats in between)
You can also tint the mail a little in this way so if you want a blue steel look mix some blue wash into your black.

primed them black as I always do and then drybrushed with Vallejo Natural Steel 70864. Easy to paint and I think they look better than the unarmoured Romans. Fecked up on the shields, I didnt take enough care cutting out the transfer.

Excellent, I might have to push the games setting back to the just Post Roman period and get my old villa out to "dirty up" a bit!
