We recently revisited one of my favourite small-sized SYW scenarios for a local club's annual open day; the Battle of Sanderhausen 1758. When we last played this scenario, the French won a very narrow victory over the Hessians, going right down to the wire on the time-limit for the scenario. Could the French do it again? Or could the Hessians hold them off this time? It's all on the blog:

Oh, and as I'd got myself a nice new fortress, I decided to 'slightly' change the geography; moving the walls of Cassel 'slightly' closer to the battlefield...
After all, it's the fort that counts...

Excellent scenario, Mark. Mind if I pinch the map and ORBAT's for possible use, should I someday get a chance for a SYW game?
If "The System" is the answer, who asked such a bloody stupid question?

The Vauban fortress is a treat!
Your battlefield reports are always a delight & an inspiration.

Thanks Donald, that's very kind of you.
The Domestic Fuhrer has imposed a moratorium on hobby spending this month, but next month I'm planning to get a third bastion and a few sections of curtain wall, including one with a breach.
I think I'm also going to have to have a serious go at scratch-building baseboards for the fortress, so if can actually have ditches, a covered way, glacis, etc. I'll also need to scratch-build a gateway ravelin and bridge.
I don't suppose anyone knows of a supplier of 15mm naval/fortress cannon?

Still table-edge? I guess you really have to as the entire circuit is realistically too big.RMD wrote: ↑Tue Oct 22, 2024 8:48 am

How big is a naval gun? Newline do a 20mm one that is, IMO, a little small for the scale.
