I think you have to be old for this to happen to you but again I may be wrong. it's that moment when a project you hadn't conceived of before, had no intentions of starting and had no interest in whatsoever , strikes at you from out of the blue and changes the course of your gaming for a while. Happened to me recently and I am still in shock. You can read the whole grizzly story on my blog at

hope it amuses and may ring bells with some of you
here is a hint of what happened

Very nice!
I'll tell Gareth that he inspires you, but just remember that he's been a good friend of mine for 30 years and is therefore clearly an idiot. You have been warned...

Always good to find a quick (and cheap) way into a new project! They bases are very nicely done.
It'll be interesting to hear how you find playing Rommel.

You've been quite an inspiration yourself, Curly. I bought some 6mm MDF figures a few weeks ago and I aim to base them on scenic bases like yours.

I hope you enjoy the figures as much as I have. God knows how many I have now. There's quite a learning curve in painting them. The secret is that first coat of primer. The MDF is like a sponge you have to overcome that before the real painting starts. I got much better results with hand brushed priming with unthinned acrylics than spray priming which frankly was a disaster.
That's what so great about the interweb and blogland in particular, inspiration is everywhere. made a huge difference to my modelling techniques especially scenary.
