WW2 Weekend - 8th June 2019

Right, because you lot are right finicky buggers, I’m giving you lots of notice.

There’ll be a big WW2 weekend in the North West next June, How big? That depends on you lot.

I’m thinking Big CoC (because why settle for little CoC when you can satiate your appetite with a Big One). It will be at my place, however if enough people are interested, maybe we’ll hire a hall at the Royal Lancashire Fusiliers museum.

It will be Late War, so those with Russians can take part. One platoon each. I have enough forces for those who are keen to play, but don’t have armies. In no particular order I have:
~ Late War German Panzer Grenadier Platoon
~ Panther Platoon
~ Late War British Rifle Platoon
~ Late War Russian infantry Platoon
~ Late War Russian Tank Rider Platoon

Plus support for all the above except the Panthers. I have enough other tanks that if other players have, we can cobble together some Allied or more German tank platoons.

I’ll take the Panzer Grenadiers, so first come first served to the rest.

The idea is to play the Saturday, and if there is enough interest, the Sunday.

Let me know who’s keen, and if you are, mark the date in your diary (Alzheimer’s and all that)

So far we have:
Yes: EB, GM, Jamanicus, WW2Dave, Norm
Maybe: LT, Purps, CB, Gary

WW2 weekend, they always promise that, then the damned thing lasts 6 years and does more damage than a Celtic v Rangers match.

My (albeit limited) experience of CoC is that too many tanks can complicate the game; that said, "Big CoC" allows you to field them in historically accurate formations - it was rare for a single tank to "pop up" in an infantry battle, from what I've read. If there are enough tanks (and players), you could have a WaT game or two running simultaneously.

The plan is to use Big CoC (as mentioned) with predominantly infantry forces on the table. It will balance out nicely as a Panther Platoon allows the opponent to field a shedload of supports. I don’t like a lot of armour on the table, I think WW2 should be an infantry fight.

The main reason for choosing Big CoC is it allows multiple players a side
