Early Warhammer armies explained.

Someone on the Oldhammer FB was asking about how Imperial Dwarves came about. There were all sorts of different answers until Rick Priestley chipped in.
Not really - we writers just had to create rules and lists for whatever the figure designers churned out - so there was very little input from the games design side until the 92 version of Warhammer when we started to design models to fit the armies and game. We had those Imperial Dwarfs because somebody decided to make a range of Imperial Dwarfs and we just had to spin something to explain them. Sometimes 'before the end of the day' to meet a WD deadline!

Yeah, I used to collect my work for the week from GW's HQ in Eastwood and there would often be a conversation starting "look, we have got these, they are new and we don't know quite how they are going to fit in but do your best". It was quite a fun time.

Warlord and Rick are still doing that....

"Why the hell did you buy that awful fantasy range"

"Erm, seemed a good deal"

"It would be no one was buying them!"

"They will once you've written a new rule set to sell them on the back of, can you have it with us in.. oh say.. ten minutes"

"You'll be getting an incomplete Bolt Action/Fantasy"

"That'll do"

It needs a great catchy name, so what shall we call it?

Well nowhere nearly backwards stolen from some old book sounds cool.

Lets go with that, safer than actually thinking or being original!

I’ve been insisting on referring to it as “Warlords of Everyone”.
Just because it winds up a chap at the club.

Any feedback on the actual game?

Dunno if it’s even out yet!

Mi amigo is very excited about the prospect - why, I absolutely cannot fathom, because he actively dislikes BA and is lukewarm on Black Powder.

That being the case, it’s hard to see what he’s expecting from WoE.
