I'm sat by the pool in Spain (did I mention I'm in Spain?) thinking about getting on with my Spencer Smiths 18thC chaps when I get home. I have some from both the SYW & WAS range. They're not specifically period specific, as you'll know.
I thought to meself, which period should I go more into? So I thought I'd ask you lot what you've bases yours on? AWI, Marlburian, WAS, SYW, or something else? And why.

Mid-century for me, a sort of generic 1750 so I can draw from either side of this date without things getting too out of 'period'.
BTW Spain + pool = git.

I paint my Spencer Smiths as generic French / Prusians. They work for 1720 - 1770ish, who serve in the Tiberian army or fight against it.

How do you handle the massed native hordes (other than very roughly, obviously)?

I've got quite a few of them - enough to do SP sized fights.

I find that it is wise to select the better looking girls and offer them gainful employment in my household; the remainder, a casual flick of my rhino hide whip whilst muttering in the dialect "I doggied your mother and look what filters through a silk stocking".

Peeler - The Gateway fellows are almost to a man based on the SSM WAS range. However my new army, The Baltic League, will be composed of Minifigs figures from the Marlburian and SYW periods, mostly the former. It matters not so long as they have nice big flags.
Willz - Very nice.
Grizzle - WTF? I despair. You're getting worse!
