Guard Mameluke Question

I seem to remember that someone here is a Mameluke expert/addict...?
I've got some AB Imperial Guard Mamelukes to paint and was just wondering if there are any 'uniform' traps for the unwary? I'm led to believe that they had standard red headgear with white turban and standard green shabraques with red/white edging and that trousers were all red (the same shade of red?).
Was anything else standard? Or was it purely random colouring? Or colouring within a certain set range of colours?
Were the plume-colours random, or were they coloured by troop?
Any information gratefully received. I've got very little on the Mamelukes and info on the interweb seems pretty vague.

Their trousers were not just red, they were a cool red (can't remember the name) the colour of a maraschino cherry. I will check my sauces tomorrow for more, but the jackets were random, there was no uniform.

Cheers, I don't care what Purps says about you.

Fortunately, purps has no knowledge of me. I'll give you the humbrol colour for the pants.

I've painted some of these and my conclusion was that there was no standard uniform but I can't remember why I came to that
I blame my dotage
I can't recall what sources I used by my recollection was that there was precious little and Rousellot had no reference plates

Well, those Asian women aren't getting near my dick if they have that much steel in their mouth.
Mamelukes. Cant find my Funcken, and I was sure that Dad had the Osprey, but I can't find it. But Cdgt Bucquoy has a good description. I assume that you've pulled a bunch of images off google for the general layout of the uniform and accoutrements. I am also assuming that you want the post 1804.
The pants are amaranth, a bluish red, I used Humbrol 153 Insignia Red, which contrasts with their 60 scarlet which is what I use for pretty much everything else. If you normally use 153 for red, you might try 73 wine for the pants, but it's too purpleish (and we don't want that kiddies, do we).
The top part is a sleeveless flak jacket affair over a long sleeved collared shirt. The jacket is occasionally shown open with the shirt exposed in front, but usually closed, trust your sculptor. The shirt is exposed in the collar and sleeves, there is often, but not apparently always, a sort of twisted serpent lace from the cuff almost to the elbow, it seems to be yellow, presumably gold for orificers.
The shirt and jacket can be any colour of the damned rainbow, the more gharish the better. I have seen one painting of them matching, but usually they seem to contrast deliberately. Likewise the sash around the belly. Musicians seem to have preferred red jackets, but I wouldn't take that with much more than a grain of salt.
The crossbelt is normally red, but officers and musicians seem to have gone for white or green.
The silly Turkish hat is red, brass cresent and star, green plume and white turban/pugaree thingy.
The saddlecloth is a Chasseur style pointy ended green number with a narrow red trim and a red and white striped fringe to that about twice the width of the red one.
I gave them buff boots and the officer red boots. I have seen paintings with black shoes.
If you need anything more, let me know and I will try and find out.

Luftwaffe colours. Am I correct that the basic colours are:
Himmelblau
Schwartzgrun
Dunkelgrun
for early war stinking huns?

Avoiding dodgy scribd sites:

Perhaps start a new thread so we don't contaminate the Marmadukes
