Strippers tips

I have some Space Pixies from which I need to remove the rather pedestrian paint job. Now these are genuine GW plastic so I don't want them to even get scratched and dettol leaves a lot of gunk behind without hard scrubbing. Someone mentioned using bleach, to that person I ask - how long does it take and will it harm plastic?

Bleach appears to be very good but I haven’t tried it on plastic. Ilkley Old School is the bleach expert.
Are they painted with acrylics ? Isopropyl alcohol works well on acrylics, soak them for a week or so. It’s useless on enamel though.

Strange, I soak mine for about a week in Dettol and the acrylic paints just comes off with a light tooth brush rub

I've used Dettol for years and have never suffered much 'gunk'. But I bet that there are so many variables that it will turn out different each time.
I've heard good things about Iso Alcohol too but have never used it myself.
As for tips for the other sort of stippers, take paper money, they don't like loose change tucked into the G string and swiping a credit card is right out!

Dettol does work but Zen said he didn’t want to use it. it’s a lot simpler and cleaner for acrylics than for enamels I agree - the jelly just falls off with almost no scrubbing,

If they aren't contactless they will lose their licence.

Apparently the gunk happens if water gets in

I use dettol a lot on metal but I have found that it softens the surface of plastic sometimes and scrubbing out the last bits can damage the flat bits a little. I might find an old sacrificial miniature and try it before having a go at irreplaceable miniatures.
