Not so easy Japanesee! Painting advice

Morning gents just after a bit of advice

Am painting some Two Dragons 15mm Samurai and currently working on some archers

I'm really not sure what to do about the quivers carried by the archers

What colour would they be? I understand they were made of wood so I'm wondering if they might be painted and lacquered in tune with the armour or bare wood

Its the square box on the figure below

Does anybody have any idea please ?

Second issue I'm facing is that I painted the ashigaru years ago and my painting style has now changed substantially, I might be forced to give the asigaru a wash and touch up so there some consistency

Anybody have good sources of 15mm painted Samurai pictures?

Yes, they were usually lacquered and often painted with the 'Mon' of their daimyo.

I'll have to dig out my Two Dragons Samurai and photograph them. I've got hundreds of them and they did feature in Wargames Illustrated a couple of times, along with some epic Japanese castles built by a mate.

Thanks gents, lacquer it is then
That would be great Mark
I remember being inspired by a game at Armageddon many many years ago and I'm pretty sure that it was a Samurai one by WASP

Ah yes, that would have been me... :) It was more than a bit mental, with a castle at each end of a 12-foot table and a bloody great fight over a tea-house in the middle... I sold the entire terrain at the end of the show, including castles, to a bunch of lunatics from Dublin. I've still got my half of the troops, though. :)
