Ok - On my Desert Island I have the technology to watch any film. Over the next days I will list on my top 10 War Films one a day.
To kick off it has to be the film I have watched more times than any other film. And is available on YouTube.
Great acting, not bad battlescenes and top quality quotes. Its none other than.....

I’d love to say: “Das Boot”, but... it’s the miniseries that’s so damn good.
The ‘movie cut’ is weak tea indeed, and barely coherent.
So I’m going for: “The Charge of the Light Brigade”.
Stirring stuff!

My favourite war films, actually are films in wartime, rather than actual war films.

Escape to Victory.
Ah Colby, Vest Ham und England
Bobby Moore at half time as they are escaping through the players’ bath: hang on, we could win this one.
Who can forget Stallone’s masterclass performance, as the Canadian escaper turned physio turned goalkeeper.
John Wark, Ossie Ardiles, Mike Summerbee. Michael Caine. Max Von Sydow. John Huston. Pelé.
Jumpers for goalposts.
The highlight of all their careers. And all done in the best possible taste.
