Very nice. I've got a couple of those ships and was always intending to use them as 'coastal scenery' alongside 6mm games. I've always thought (but not done it yet) that such small ships could also appear in 28mm battles, to support or attack land positions or fortresses from the sea. When they are ...

Re: Civilians

Yes, it's always fun to see lots of NPCs on the gaming table (I know your clubmen are not actual NPCs if there is no GM but it's the same idea, people outside the official armies and of uncertain behaviour). In our skirmish games such units may have a slight advantage in their first game turn of mel...

Re: Just an observation

Nice point about woollen garments, Patrice. I am currently re-reading the O'Brien opus for the X time & poor Killick, the steward, is constantly cleaning and repairing the broadcloth uniform coats The same uniform may look very different depending on the situation. That's me (about 20 years ago...

Re: Just an observation

I think I'm correct in saying in our hobby, SYW troops are rarely shown in 'campaign dress', which logically can't be correct in reality? I don't see what 'campaign dress' in the SYW could be? In the early 18th C. the military fashion was very similar to the civilian one except for facings which ha...

Re: Yuletide felicitations to one and all.

The first time a female police officer (at Portsmouth ferry harbour) asked me “did you pack everything yourself?“ I said “what?“ I had no idea what she was talking about.

Merry Christmas.
