That's a shame about the WA sets. The shoulders thing is quite hard to rectify. I had thought about getting some frames for conversions, additional crew figures etc .BaronVonWreckedoften wrote: ↑Wed Jan 11, 2023 6:21 am From a photo comparison, the WA figures do seem to match up with GWM pretty well, IMO. However, whilst the French set is not bad (and a big gap in the GWM range), the other sets are not great. The Germans suffer from "body-builder shoulders" and the British got a bit of a slating when they were previewed recently - no entrenching tools, no grenade attachments for rifles, no Lewis drum carrier webbing etc.

Unfortunately, I don't think they sell individual frames, which is a shame because - as you rightly say - they could be a great source of weapons and spare kit etc. I've seen someone on-line use the faces with gas masks to make unworn masks that hang down in front of the wearer's chest. Maybe we should look at sharing a box among ourselves?

Just got the new Russian Mounted Jaegers (or Chasseurs, if you prefer) from AB Figures. Cracking figures, as always! There's a stack of new AB Napoleonics about to appear, but most of it is sadly esoteric, such as various types of Gendarmes serving in Spain, which should keep the skirmish-gamers happy... meh! However, there are more useful offerings promised for the future.

Re: What are people buying?
A set of eBay wins that have netted me six really, really nicely-made WW1 terrain boards, comprising two sets of two boards each with a different-looking trench system, and two No Man's Land boards; plus, a late war British platoon and supports, and a late war German zug plus supports. I have to go pick these up from Gloucester as the poor seller is unwell, but on the plus side, I'm taking my regular opponent and "Bunker" owner, Dave, with me, and we're also collecting left-over materials to make more boards, plus some other odds and ends the guy didn't have the time to put up on eBay. All this after promising myself "no new projects this year".

Nice score Baron. Me? Buying some STL files to print off 28mm Tiger II, and some really cheap 'Space Marine' analogues, just in case I fancy Xenos Rampant... at some point.
Re: What are people buying?
A whole new kitchen, which means a severe curtailment of hobby purchases. I snuck in a copy of Xenos Rampant though...
