Re: My Road to Ayton
As the sage of Essex put it "there's something rather special about a red coated army with stacks of lace." quite wunnerful.
Re: My Road to Ayton
Thanks guys!
Dave, you’ll have to get in line! Clearly I’ll be the distraction whilst the Gateway is ravaging your baggage. I’m not sure if that’s a euphemism or not.
VB, yellow was not my choice. It’s a pain in the arse to paint! Unfortunately the forces at Minden took great delight in wearing yellow. I think it was just to piss me off!

I have always found that an undercoat of white over the jacket colour helps the yellow.

Excellent work, Jeremy - I can remember you buying those figures last year at Salute. It's a shame nobody makes SYW British with roses in their hats and clothes.
(You might want to change "32nd Foot" to "37th Foot" before some uniform Nazi spots it.....)

Nah, quote 30 different non existent sources and explain patronisingly that the secondary sources have so poisoned popular perceptions.

Cheers Baron, it was a typo. They are the 37th...BaronVonWreckedoften wrote: ↑Mon Apr 02, 2018 10:41 am Excellent work, Jeremy - I can remember you buying those figures last year at Salute. It's a shame nobody makes SYW British with roses in their hats and clothes.

I suppose they don’t because they could only be used after Minden... and only for a few regiments

You could always add a few model railway scenic roses
Good looking force there Jeremy and raised in record time as well.

I get lockdown, but I get up again.
Re: My Road to Ayton
Corkingly good looking, as are the figures. Very well done
Re: My Road to Ayton
So with less than a week to go, I thought I’d post an update.
My favorite cavalry regiment so far, the 15th Light Horse:
1st Regiment of Foot Guards. I need to revisit this unit after Ayton and add the other two colours:
My favorite foot regiment so far, the Von Scheither Regiment:
Roger’s Rangers:
A converged Light Infantry Regiment from the FIW:
And aside from the artillery limbers which just need flocking, that is it for now. Future plans include a converged grenadier unit, another regiment of Hanoverian Foot and perhaps some Hussars.
We’ll see how it goes. After a year, I’m keen to paint something different, so they will have to wait....
