That's a very good looking battalion, mate, and I'm happy that my encouragement (that's a much nicer word than "nagging") worked. I really like the v. Behr pioneer- he looks like he doesn't mean to just cut firewood with that axe.
If "The System" is the answer, who asked such a bloody stupid question?

The Brunswick infantry regiments just before they returned to barracks in GHQ. There'll be more on the blog when I get around to it.

A bit of an addition under the F&IW project umbrella on my blog now. My main effort hopefully over the coming months will be two armies for Crimean War games. I'll be sure to keep interested parties up to snuff.
My main SYW project features in the new issue of Wargames Illustrated, as does my Western Town, New Paddock City, for anyone who might be interested

Nice mix of clothing - yes, I think it works (as do the two "short arses" in the line-up - I thought they might have been Minifigs at first, from the size and pose, but not once you get a close-up look). And not too many black hats - a stock inventory from a deceased Colonial hat-maker showed not one single black hat in his shop, all browns and greys and one or two "exotic" hues such as green, which I suspect is far more accurate for civilian headgear. Black was an expensive colour to use for individual garments, and the military adopted it because it was distinctive, cheap(ish) to produce in bulk, and tended to "hold" better when used on hat material (is felt - other clothing materials tended to fade quickly to a dusty brown).

On the off chance that anyone might be interested in buying the new Wargames Illustrated issue there's a bonus as my SYW collection is featured over four pages. (As a bonus my Western Gunfight town is there too.)
