Penda's Crimean War Project
Penda's Crimean War Project
In a gesture of defiance towards the onward march of time and the ravages of aging on hand and eye I've embarked on a new/old project, the Crimean War. I've chosen to use mainly Great War Miniatures and have splashed out on the basics of British and Russian forces. This is the first unit to be completed, the Scots Fusilier Guards. More about this on the blog of course if you'd like to follow in more depth as the project hopefully evolves.

Looking good = all you need now are loads of Russian guns and charging British cavalry!
Re: Penda's Crimean War Project
Sadly the Light Brigade molds have failed and masters need reworking, so no light cavalry in prospect yet.

Re: Penda's Crimean War Project
I shall be watching this evolve with some interest, as I have always fancied a Crimean skirmish game project with greatcoated British and Russians scrapping on the Inkerman Heights and unequal forces blundering into each other in foggy conditions. Sadly, nobody seems to make British in greatcoats in 28mm.

Great War Miniatures do British infantry in greatcoats, including command. On North Star's web page.

Re: Penda's Crimean War Project
Thank you - funnily enough, the range's sculptor, Aly Morrison, just told me the exact same thing via email.
So no excuse now for not going ahead.

Looking very nice, Penda. Some of those blokes need to step 3 paces closer to their razors, though.
If "The System" is the answer, who asked such a bloody stupid question?

In amongst the painting of the Coldstream Guards I have managed to fit in one base of the Royal Scots. There is more about the reason for their prompt appearance on my blog.
