Lochdubh Militia
Finished this battalion today Lochdubh Militia, a little known regiment raised in 1745 and fought with distinction during the 1745-46 campaign.
Figures are Spencer Smith AWI figures.
Flags by David at "Not by Appointment". a repurposed flag.
Jean Luc Pickard swanned into Mrs Miggins pie shoppe and ale house and spotted Angus McBean in the corner wallowing in a large glass of red.
"What's your poison" said Jean Luc, "mines another large red", "what a nightmare I had last night" rather loudly said McBean "I dreamt of a cart full of Mcdew men fell over a cliff", eying up a couple of Mcdew men who were glaring at him, "You're a Lochdogh man why should that worry you" said Jean luc, "yes but there were 3 empty seats on the cart" says Mcbean at this 3 Mcdew men launched themselves at McBean who picked up two wooden bar stools and set about all three.
"Send us over a bottle of red Mrs Miggins" yelled Jean Luc, McBean will need it when he's finished his exercise for the night.
Willz.

Re: Lochdogh Militia
Lowlanders? Rather a fancy lot to be drinking red wine.
I'm assuming a 'what-if' unit? Your choice of colour once again "pops".

From the blue-yellow combo, I would assume these chaps to be Whigs, and thus on the Government side?

Re: Lochdogh Militia
They were originally a Government regiment but the first colonel insulted the troops by not allowing them to drink whiskey.BaronVonWreckedoften wrote: ↑Wed Apr 17, 2024 11:11 am From the blue-yellow combo, I would assume these chaps to be Whigs, and thus on the Government side?
So the regiment mutinied to a man and went over to Bonnie Prince Charlie.

I love a good back story nearly as much as I love good figures, so win:win here, Will.

Denying Scotsmen whisky*? Well, that's just asking for trouble, isn't it.Willz the Wargamer wrote: ↑Wed Apr 17, 2024 5:19 pm They were originally a Government regiment but the first colonel insulted the troops by not allowing them to drink whiskey.

(I was always taught no "e" in Scotch - as in the drink, not the folk - only for Irish. Is it always with an "e" in the Senior Service?)

No, you're correct. The "e" stands for 'Erin'.BaronVonWreckedoften wrote: ↑Wed Apr 17, 2024 11:10 pm

The Yanks also spell it with an "e" which in their case stands for 'eejit'.
