18thC Shoulder Knot - uniform question
Does anyone have a better picture of an 18th Century shoulder knot, in the style depicted here on a WAS Spanish Royal Guard ?

Oh it does I think thank you!!. Seems like two loops connected to a central knot?

Yes. Looking at modern ones may help (although the number of loops may vary). Usually there's also a metal tip at the end.

I think it was a way of keeping the "master" match out of harm's way - a sort of "safety match" if you like - and ready to relight those of the men, hence it would often indicate a corporal.

Could be the origins. The Spanish Royal and Walloon guards had them for all ranks. Scarlet for troopers, silver for NCOs

I tried looking for a reenactment group website.......beyond me I'm afraid.
Your example looks OK to me.
