Anyone know what colour the stripes would be for a Sepoy, fighting in the Sudan?
I've trawled the net but can't find the answer.

stripes
Re: stripes
Hmm.....The National Army Museum has a black and white illustration of a Havildar, serving with the marines in the Sudan, whose stripes are light coloured so probably narrows it down to white or yellow.
The only illustrations of Havildar of the period (but not in Sudan) that I can find show yellow stripes. Into the 20th century the stripes seem to be white, however the post war Indian army used yellow.
so.......not much help really, but i'd go for yellow I think!

Thanks, Paul.
B&W illustrations are the devil. I'll use yellow.....re-paint later if I have to (only 2 figures need stripes).
