Re: What a Tanker thread
3 here.
My Pz. IV was beat up by a Sherman - we both got into equivalent positions and just took turns lobbing shells at each other. Ami dice good, Deutsche dice bad.
I withdrew with heavy damage.
Next, two Shermans vs. A Jagdpanther - equal on points, but an absolute massacre on the tabletop. My Sherman exploded, but the crew managed to bale out.
My oppo tried to run for it, but unlucky initiative meant he couldn’t make the table edge without allowing the Beast a shot.
Instead, the two ended up circling a small wood, waiting til the movement dice afforded one of them a shot.
Opportunity fell to the Jagdpanther, and a devastating one-shot kill ensued.
Lastly, I played the Jagdpanther vs. two M10 TD’s. (Nominally 28 pts to the JP’s 24)
I just drove up to the first - trusting my monstrous armour to take a hit on the way - and explodicated him.
Turned my attention to the second one - we exchanged shots and damaged each other’s running gear. Then he won initiative and ran away.
Playing the JP was a fun power-trip for the first couple of rounds.
After that, though, it felt like it didn’t really matter what I did - the tank would win without me.

Right... WaT. Not what I thought it would be. Despite having owned, played and thoroughly enjoyed almost every Lardie game ever, the amount of ‘friction’ took me by surprise. Games are VERY dice dependent, especially for generic tanks like PZ IV’s and Sherman’s. It’s quite possible, and I did, spend several turns in row where I only moved two or three inches in total and did nothing else. It almost drives you to choose specialist tanks as they let you convert dice to actions instead of playing the bread and butter tanks of WW2. The Wolverine is probably the best for variety, being Fast and a Tank Destroyer gives you more options if the dice go bad. I also think it’s best for multi-players and the game option where if you die, you come back on in a new tank. I need to play it more and will give it a go at Partizan where Rich can show me where I’m going wrong. I don’t dislike it, I’m just very undecided about it.

Mate, there’s no sugar-coating it.... WaT is Yahtzee with tanks.
If you can swallow that, it’s half-an-hour’s tabletop fun.

Re: What a Tanker thread
What Norm said. I’m buying tanks for it but only ones that I needed anyway for CoC.
Re: What a Tanker thread
It's basically World of Tanks or "Fury" turned into a tabletop game.

I do think the M10 is overpowered and over cost. Classing it as fast is pushing it. not much faster than a Sherman and it should definitely have the Slow Turret rule as it was hand wound, Tanks Encyclopedia quotes 2 minutes for a full traverse.
