Yes, food rationing.....clearly, that's what I meant..............

I was already exempt from rationing restrictions on June 4 1954 on the grounds that I was only just over 2 weeks old.
I know when to go out
I know when to stay in

We’ll sort that out tonight at the pub. Never fear!

It is very much meant for one ir two ships a player or it gets 'unweildy' (Although it may be the mists of time or impatience of youth that makes me think that?)
I think AH or maybe someone else later published a hexless version for miniatures but I never played that as my interests had moved on.
I love the idea of making players wave signal flags to each other :)
We used to play four each easily. Once you get a couple of squadrons of SOL on each side is the point at which I think the pre-plotted moves are too unwieldy and at that point the card activation from KMH should work really well.

Conversely I dont think card activation in KMH works as well as pre-plotted moves when the game is down to a duel or a few ships per side.

I just like the simplicity of sailing and firing in WS&IM. It has period feel without getting too complex overall.

If I can find a copy of the tabletop version of WS&IM that would be interesting. At present I've volunteered to organise the scenarios etc... for the game But i'm happy to hand it over to someone else if they are keen.

I've just done some research and found that the tabletop version of WS&IM went under a different name!!! It was called 'Ship of the Line'. FFS why not make things complicated :)

Sorry Paul. I knew that, but assumed others did too. See more here: https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/7782/ship-o-line . They were a good bit of fun, and much less detailed than 'Hearts of Oak', etc.
