Whatever is the quickest way out of the bleak north.

But, I agree with the extended holiday thing. If I remember this solution next year, that's what I'll do.

If we'd extended the holiday I would have ended up in 'town' on Sunday night, which i'm not sure is a good thing!
I wouldn't mind the traditional weekend being moved but I suspect that it would make it more difficult for others to attend.

Originally the dates in May were selected because Kerry (Valleyboy) was in the UK at that time, and they did not clash with any shows etc. Also for those of us working, the Bank Holiday Monday gave a day to recover and travel home. As I am retired it doesn't bother me, as I have no work reasons one way or the other. But it does generally suit most attendees.
Rules? You ask me what rules do I use. No, I don't do rules.

Tim I think is correct as to why the original Ayton was a BH - you were all very kind in accommodating my travel arrangements - Salute and Partizan might want to clashes you wish to consider

I hope to make another Ayton sometime- but it won't be for another 2 years at the earliest - I've only managed 2 - regrettably this year didn't work as the River cruise meant we were still in Paris on that w/e
