Kein Plan überlebt den ersten Kontakt mit den Würfeln. (No plan survives the first contact with the dice.) Baron Mannshed von Wreckedoften, First Sea Lord of the Bavarian Admiralty.
It was indeed quite a turnup but very cinematic - Garibaldi on a white horse charging through the archway as the Bourbon regiment crumbles and flees. The great thing about the SP rules is how little narratives appear throughout the game - we had 4 or 5 events that became a story in their own right (Purp's seems to have neglected to tell you about his puny little chopper). Add that to LT's fantastic scenery and figures and it was a very good day all round.
Let’s just all look at this again for a minute and bask in my glory

Look I won’t be embarrassed when one of you declares me a military genius.
“He’s like Prince Ferdinand of Brunswick had a love child with Eugene of Savoy” said one of you quietly as I walked by...
Yes I am really.
That’s quite right.
Really when people talk of Peter the Great, they shouldn’t really be thinking about that Russian bloke.
