Great day yesterday, big thanks to the guys for making the trip and contributing to the game. John's amazing buildings and Simon's lovely scenery pieces took my basic terrain, water and trees table to another level. Having figures on the table from different collections always makes things look great too.
The game was a lot of fun, played in the perfect spirit, and in typical SP style provided lots of interesting events and moments. There is plenty of scope for a return to this setting as plot-wise things remain unfinished. Hopefully people will be up for that sometime. I'll do a blog write up and post a link here soon.
It was really good to have plenty of hobby chat afterwards, with good food and drink. You always learn new and useful stuff talking to other gamers, now I just need to remember it all!

Did they decide to do without the virgin and three wise men, then?

The vacancies have been put on LinkedIn. The virgin never makes it to the interview and the wise men respond "You must be joking mate"

Dave, I am definitely up to take on El Kebab again! The rotter got away by the skin of his teeth! Maybe this time we can entice Simon away from the walled fortifications

Great, maybe later this year even? He's wily (El Kebab, not GM, although now I think of it...) and needs to be hunted down.
How about tracking him to his lair - one really big hilly island taking up the whole table with sea all around? Everyone racing to get to him, and his legendary treasure.
John can even re-enact Omaha beach - again.

Excellent report, splendid looking layout and some really top notch toy soldiers. What's not to like. If there's a next time I think I'll have to wangle an invite. Well done to all. Great to see some imaginative conversions, (bravo Simon).
Rules? You ask me what rules do I use. No, I don't do rules.
