T%hose houses are rather lovely.
Re: Penda’s Italian Wars Project thread
A further base of Landsknechts, in this case handgunners ~
As ever a little more over on my blog ~

Half way through another base of Landsknechts as well, halberdiers in this case. Beautiful figures from the old Citadel/Wargames Foundry range I picked up at Barrage in June for a song.

I have to say I'm not sure about that style of base (although you've certainly done a good job on them). How easily do they fit together - not just with other units of the same army, but also with opposing units attacking them?

Perhaps I need to remind readers that a base is a unit, so no fitting together needed. All bases in both our armies are 100mm wide, only pike and Large Ordnance are 100mm deep, the rest are 50mm. We are using rules derived from Neil Thomas’s sets plus our own input.BaronVonWreckedoften wrote: ↑Sun Aug 12, 2018 1:34 pm I have to say I'm not sure about that style of base (although you've certainly done a good job on them). As an aside arising from your question, don’t you think rules have got a bit stale with all this pointless emphasis on ratios, figures on a base, shape and the like?

That's odd because it says on your blog that a base is only a unit for the time being, until your armies grow larger. What happens then? Or did I misread that?Penda wrote: ↑Sun Aug 12, 2018 4:15 pm Perhaps I need to remind readers that a base is a unit, so no fitting together needed. What would you have instead? Not quite sure what is being asked here. And when you say "pointless" do you mean "not using a point system" or do you mean "what is the point"?

Re: Penda’s Italian Wars Project thread
I was expressing an opinion as I play games with toy soldiers and have no pretentious ideas that I’m recreating history or war in any but the loosest sense. Hence in this game at least a base is a unit and has whatever number of figures on it we please, or can afford, or can stand painting even. A bit Black Powderish for some perhaps, but that’s the beauty of the hobby, room for all kinds of odd folk...even you and me.BaronVonWreckedoften wrote: ↑Mon Aug 13, 2018 5:05 pmThat's odd because it says on your blog that a base is only a unit for the time being, until your armies grow larger. Probably changed our minds, who knows? I’ll probably have embarked on another project by then!

Loving the look of this project, I might have said that already, but it bears repeating, and love your ethos.
Rules? You ask me what rules do I use. No, I don't do rules.
